LeBron James Leaves Cleveland - Owner Speaks for Entire Fanbase

Last night in a ridiculous TV event on ESPN, LeBron James declared he was leaving his hometown team in free agency and going to go play in Miami.

After James announced his decision to betray his hometown the owner of the Cavaliers, Dan Gilbert issued a scathing open letter to the fans. Good for him. Many in the national sports media have criticized Gilbert for the tone and content of the letter. Personally, I'm glad to see him respond and show real emotion. For too long we have had team owners sit in the background and act like they could barely care. To me the key part of Gilbert's letter was this prediction:
In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight: "I personally guarantee that the Cleveland Cavaliers will win an NBA Championship before the self-titled former 'king' wins one."
I have no idea if he'll be right in this prediction. We just saw in this past post season that anything can happen in the playoffs. The Cavaliers had the best regular season record and they ended up getting bounced in the playoffs by an inferior team mainly because their best player quit on the team.

As far as James and the Miami Heat go, . . . well I can not bring myself to root for an injury. So I will just hope he continues to choke at the key moments of big games. Boston showed in their playoff run the importance of depth and quality bench players. With the money the Heat have tied up in three players their bench will include players like me and I'm no good at basketball. No bench means their keys players (Wade, Bosh, James) will be running on fumes in the playoffs.

It's better than that for Miami, these 3 players are literally the only players on the team. Miami needs to now go out and sign ten or so fringe players to league minimum contracts. Better than that Wade and Bosh have both missed more than 10 games a season to injury over the last 2 years.

Players are stupid invariably they pick teams that are worse off than where they were. They are just too close to the action to see the warts and evaluate a situation.
