President Abraham Lincoln
Yesterday marked the 200th anniversary of the birth of President Abraham Lincoln. I didn't have anything special to post at the time. However, last night I visited Cranky Conservative's blog and he had a series of entries on Lincoln including most of his best speeches and some of the letters he wrote. The letters, more than the speeches, give a better understanding of the man's style and his wit. If you have an interest in history, I encourage you to click the link and review his posts.

Thanks for the link and the kind words. After thinking about what I wanted to do and say to commemorate the occasion, I finally realized, as you pointed out, that it was just best to let Abe speak for himself.

Lincoln: The greatest War President of War Presidents.
I laughed out loud when President Obama hung his hat on the legacy of that Lincoln earlier this week. Anyone else have that response?

Jeff,
Actually, I think I throw up a little every time he attempts to make a comparison to Lincoln.

I hear ya. But I take solace in belief that a major 2010 backlash is brewing.

Sounds good. Standing strong against the wasteful spending mess being portrayed as a stimulus bill is a good start to getting there.
