Goofiest Global Warming Claim Yet

I realize I'm going out on a limb with the title to this post as the global warming alarmists have said some real nutty stuff. Regardless, I'm confident that the article I'm linking to is far beyond past claims. Here's the link. Here is a snippet of the insanity:
It's Saturday night, and you want to catch the latest summer blockbuster. You do a quick Google search to find the venue and right time, and off you go to enjoy some mindless fun.

Meanwhile, your Internet search has just helped kill the planet. Depending on how long you took and what sites you visited, your search caused the emission of one to 10 grams of carbon into the atmosphere, contributing to global warming.

Sure, it's not a lot on its own — but add up all of the more than one billion daily Google searches, throw in 60 million Facebook status updates each day, 50 million daily tweets and 250 billion emails per day, and you're making a serious dent in some Greenland glaciers.

No, this was not pulled from TheOnion.com or other parody site. The kook who wrote this drivel, Alex Roslin is actually a paid journalist who has won journalism awards. Only good thing is he is Canadian so he (hopefully) doesn't vote in our elections.

The real danger of "Global Warming"

The majority of Americans don't much care that the much ballyhooed "Global Warming" is a half baked theory masquerading as settled science. Even most of those with enough judgment to realize it is a hoax laugh it off as harmless environmentalism and say what's wrong with taking better care of the planet. I can see that and even agree we should do better about things like littering, etc. What people don't understand is why they should be much more concerned about the proposed solutions to "Global Warming" then the imagined problem.

Former Delaware Governor Pete du Pont has a very good column in today's Wall Street Journal that explains that the real danger of "Global Warming" is the massive government takeover of control of industry as part of the solution to the imagined problem. In the article he details what we would see if the pending Boxer-Lieberman-Warner legislation were to become law. I would cut and paste part of his column, but I don't want to dilute his message. Click the link and read the whole thing.

This silliness is NOT harmless. Millions of jobs will be lost as America become less competitive. Also, don't take comfort in the thought of President Bush vetoing this legislation. Only 13 senators voted Nay meaning it has a veto proof margin of support.
